The site was previously an old racecourse, now transformed into Australia’s first fully operational utility scale, DC-coupled solar and battery energy storage system. The technology behind the new smart solar farm is the first of its kind operationalised in Australia. It features a 5.8MW single axis tracking solar photovoltaic (PV) system with 6.7 MWh of DC-coupled Battery Energy Storage System (BESS). The Berri Energy Project is located on the northern bank of the Murray River, the traditional lands of the First Peoples of the River Murray and Mallee Region.
